On 27.04.2010 a roundtable titled “Europeanization and the Role of Economic Elites in Romania, Hungary and Turkey” was organized with the collaboration of the Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGIAD). Prof. Dr. Canan Balkir moderated the roundtable and the speakers were Prof. Dr. Nicolae Paun, JM Chair, Babes-Bolyai University of Romania, Prof. Dr. Tibor Palankai, JM Chair, Corvinus University of Budapest-Hungary, Yigit Tatis Deputy Chairman of EGIAD, and Gamze Yayman of EGIAD.

On 22.04.2010 a conference titled “Trade and Global Economy: EU and Turkey” was organized with the collaboration of IKV (Economic Development Foundation). Prof. Dr. Utku Utkulu Director of the Graduate School of Social Sciences and Prof. Dr. Haluk Kabaalioglu, JM Chair and Chairman of the Economic Development Foundation made the opening speeches. The conference was moderated by the Prof. Dr. Canan Balkır and the discussants were Sahin Yaman from the Undersecretariat of the Foreign Trade, Dr. Sait Akman from Marmara University and Dr. Dilek Seymen from Dokuz Eylul University.

Commission to Turkey delivered a speech on current developments in EU-Turkey

organised in Antalya.

On 3 December 2007, former Minister of Foreign Affairs
Mr. Hikmet Çetin delivered a speech at the department on Turkish-US
Strategic Partnership and the European Union.

On 14 November 2007, Chief Consultant for the President
of the Republic, Mr. Ahmet Sever visited the department and delivered a
speech on current issues in Turkey-EU relations.

|
A workshop was organised on 5 November 2007 with
participation of Prof. Heinz Kramer from German Institute for
International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik).
During the workshop, Professor Kramer has delivered a speech titled
“Complexity, Conditionality, Security and Identity – factors for
explaining the EU's behaviour on Turkey's accession”.
